Some people think peace is boring. You know what I think, I think drama is boring. I feel the most exhausted when I have to deal with an intense emotional crisis. When there’s a kind of mental hostage situation revolving around intensely polarized opinions I get drained. I’d rather not argue or disagree, even though it’s inevitable in life. I get tired from arguments, like so tired that I often have to sleep for extra hours in the night to recover. I find peace stimulating and equanimity to be life-giving. It does seem to me like there are some people who are crave drama and chaos, like they thrive in the midst of crazy emotional emergency. That’s just not me. Maybe that’s why I’ve devoted my life to yoga? I am on a quest to live a peaceful life. _ #practiceyogachangeyourworld #onebreathatatime Photo @fabiokerr_photography Outfit Omstars sneak peak by @liquidoactive Staying @voguefashionhotel in Rio ? Do you think it’s possible to love and forgive every single person you meet, or is it bs? Yesterday in my stories I shared my own practice with it and many of you reached out, telling me how much you needed to hear it. Because it’s so easy to get lost in what someone did to you and how someone made you feel, and as we keep repeating it over and over like broken records, we are ultimately just hurting ourselves. My examples for you is my ex and the man who raped me. People always ask me how I can practice love and forgiveness to people who showed me so much evil, and I know it might be hard to understand, but if it wasn’t for the man who brutally assaulted me ten year ago, would I ever had started yoga? Would I be a yoga teacher and have this platform where I get to share these things with you, if I hadn’t gone through it and been told by my therapist to start yoga because I didn’t want to use antidepressants. I found myself and learned so much about who I am because of that experience. And my ex, who tortured me for 2 years and planned on killing me. The psychology and dynamic of these relationships are so complex and hard for people to understand, that I could have never in a million years been able to resonate with the thousands of women (and men) who have reached out to me because of my own story. Sharing their own stories of getting out, or wanting to get out. If so many other people can feel like they are not alone and that there’s a way for a better life, then my own experience was definitely worth it. No one wants to experience unhappiness, but if you can go through something hard so that you can be a pillar of support for someone else… I wouldn’t change that for the world. The sisterhood I feel with these other women is worth every minute of terror I went through with him. Showing love and forgiveness to these people, or even the random guy flipping you off in traffic, are daily lessons in life to practice your own tolerance and resilience. If you can feel love instead of hate, it doesn’t make them stronger, it makes you stronger because you get to walk away feeling happy and peaceful, and with tools to help someone who really needs it. Starting off our year basking in the magic of Hawaii and shooting a new yoga YouTube series based on the 4 elements. ? ? ? ? ⁣ ⁣ Fittingly, one of the most inspiring films for the two of us is a movie that we love to recommend about a family from this island Kauai- @thegoodwinway. It captures them wandering the world from the perspective of their little boy and truly resonates the magic of the planet in a beautiful and awe inspiring way. ⁣ ⁣ We found a T-shirt in a store from their brand here @slow_yourself_down and we have a feeling it will act as the reminder it should for us: To breathe deep. ⁣ To love life. ⁣ To revel in nature. ⁣ And to cherish the moments of connection- to ourselves, each other, and the planet. ⁣ ⁣ The movie is @given_the_movie and it’s worth the watch. ⁣ ⁣ Much love to all the dreamers, wanders, and peace makers of the world. ⁣ ⁣ #slowyourselfdown⁣ #bohobeautiful #kauaihawaii #mindbodyearth #peacefulmoments #yoga #yogaforthesoul #yogatravel #hawaiiyoga #veganlove #peacefulwarrior #lightwarriors
